Susan Beller joined FEDLAW after retiring from a 22-year career as an attorney for a federal executive branch agency. While in federal service, Susan worked her way up from a line attorney handling both programmatic and employment law matters, to the role of Labor and Employment Lead for her former agency’s Boston Region.
As a federal government employment lawyer, Susan gained extensive experience handling Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaints, Merit Systems Protection Board appeals, and labor arbitrations from cradle to grave. Her daily work included advising management on reasonable accommodation requests, anti-harassment investigations, and adverse actions involving misconduct or performance concerns. This experience gave her a deep understanding of how agency management approaches personnel issues from the inside out, such as discipline and performance management, as well as the intricacies of labor-management relations in a unionized environment. Now, that insight makes her an especially effective advocate for federal government employees in her role as a trial attorney at FEDLAW.
Susan graduated magna cum laude from Rhode Island College, and cum laude from Boston University School of Law, where she finished in the top 25% of her graduating class after serving as Co-Director of the school’s prestigious Homer Albers Moot Court Competition for third-year law students. Susan interned at Greater Boston Legal Services throughout law school, focusing on connecting housing-insecure communities with government services and legal aid agencies.
In her free time, Susan volunteers with her local library and supports animal rescue causes. She enjoys karaoke, supporting her area’s music and dance scenes, and outdoor activities including kayaking, canoeing, and hiking.

McKay Prize for Excellence in Moot Court and Best Oralist honors in regional, national, and law-school competitions. He also received the law school’s Legal Writing Award in 2016.
